Mohamed Jalloh, age 35, split his right knee cap, probably as the result of a motorcycle accident. The two halves were displaced, one being pulled upward and the other downward, by the attached leg muscles. Before any orthopedic surgical teams resumed visiting Sierra Leone after the Ebola epidemic, we had Mohamed’s knee cap wired back together by a local orthopedic surgeon at the main government hospital in the capital city of Freetown. He is doing well.
